Telling his fans he was ‘as motivated as ever’, doting dad Fred shared a snap of his shirtless torso and revealed he’s continuing to ‘push himself as hard physically as he’s always done’. It certainly looks that way.
‘Can’t believe I’ll be 51 years old on Friday,’ Fred told his 833,000 Instagram followers last week.
‘Although my time to become a World Champion is long gone, it is still not stopping me from pushing myself physically just as hard as I have always done,’ he added.
The Limoges-born dad-of-two went on: ‘Some days are harder than others to get started especially in this cold and injuries are certainly not helping.
‘Still, I’m as motivated as ever, I’m competing against myself and I’m determined to win. It’s all down to discipline and my (ever-changing) daily training routine.’
Fred also revealed what his workout had looked like that morning, penning: ‘Here is what I did: 10 mins cycling, 10 x 1 boxing in heavy bag (45 secs boxing and 15 secs squats / reverse lunges), 10 mins cycling, 10 x 1 boxing in heavy bag (45 secs boxing and 15 secs squats / reverse lunges), 20 mins cycling.’
On his actual birthday, Fred and his partner, who he affectionally refers to as ‘Fruitcake’, visited Amsterdam.
‘The last few days have been amazing!’ he said of their trip.
Plenty of his famous friends were quick to wish him well, with and both writing: ‘Happy birthday’ beneath his post and This Morning’s Gino D’Acampo adding: ‘Buon compleanno.’
