The Store in Leicester Square is offering to take payment in socks for one special set, in celebration of Dobby the House-Elf’s birthday.
Everyone loves Lego but there’s one unavoidable problem with it: it’s pretty expensive. You do get what you pay for but any excuse for a discount is welcome and there’s not better deal than completely free.
As long as you bring along at least one sock to offer in exchange, you can get a free at the flagship Leicester Square store this week. A set that usually costs £24.99.
Only the first 100 customers on Wednesday, June 28 are guaranteed the set but the deal is expected to last into Thursday as well.
You won’t actually have to hand over your sock if you don’t want to, you just have to show it at the counter (only clean ones will be accepted!) which is obviously a nod to how Dobby earned his freedom in the books and movies.
June 28 is officially Dobby’s birthday and the brick-built model includes Tom Riddle’s diary and Aunt Petunia’s ‘floating’ pudding cake. Plus, of course, a Lego sock.
Lego also has plenty of other Harry Potter sets, that can’t be exchanged for a sock, including an impressive for £44.99 and a pretty amazing set that is £149.99 and will be out on September 1.
Although Lego did stop making Harry Potter sets at one point, ever since they started again a few years ago they’ve been more popular than ever, with lots of different models aimed at both kids and adult collectors.
