has decided to from BBC ’s spin-off show It Takes Two.
The presenter gave us a glorious four years on the show, bringing us all the behind-the-scenes goss of the dancing competition.
Now, Rylan – who co-hosted the show with – who is currently , has decided it’s time to say goodbye.
In a statement, the 34-year-old said: ‘The time has come for me to to someone else and explore what else life has for me.
‘Thank you Strictly, you will always have my heart… and dancing feet.’
Instead of being sad about his departure, let’s instead celebrate the joy he brought to our living rooms with a look at his best bits on the show.
Broken prop
In his penultimate episode of the show (of course, we didn’t know it would all be over so soon then), Rylan managed to accidentally break a prop required for a sketch.
Rylan and Janette, 39, were introducing Gorka Marquez, 32, and former Blue Peter host Helen Skelton, 39, onto the sofa.
Rylan said to Janette: ‘Have you heard the rumour?’, to which she responded ‘No, go on.’
‘Apparently she’s got a back-up plan in case she doesn’t win [the Glitterball trophy]. Here’s one she made earlier and it just broke behind my back.’
Rylan then held up half of a DIY trophy, as the camera panned to the other half rolling away.
He then hid from the camera, as Janette walked away in a fit of giggles.
Keira Knightley impression
In a clip to promote It Takes Two, Janette and Rylan recreated the well-known doorstep scene from the 2003 Richard Curtis rom-com Love Actually, made famous by Keira Knightley’s Juliet and Andrew Lincoln’s Mark.
Janette appeared at Rylan’s door and began to hold up a series of messages written down on large pieces of card.
The notes read: ‘Hi Rylan! It’s me Janette – your co-host from It Takes Two.
‘With any luck, by next year I’ll be presenting on BBC One with these two,’ the second said, with a photograph of hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman to follow.
‘But to me, you are the perfect partner, and my Latin hips will love you every week at 6.30pm,’ Janette’s message concluded.
Rylan then responded by poking fun at one of the famous Love Actually lines and said: ‘It Takes Two actually is all around.’
Before the scene closed, he also released his inner Keira, quoting her character by adding: ‘I look quite pretty!’
Birthday specials
Rylan’s birthday is October 25, which is right in the middle of Strictly season.
The team ensured his studio birthdays were special, which was more than just having a whip-round for a Colin the Caterpillar cake.
In 2022,it was a seemingly normal recording day for Rylan when the broadcast was suddenly interrupted with an announcement.
‘We interrupt our programme to bring this important message,’ was sounded leaving Rylan looking perplexed.
‘It’s Rylan’s birthday!’
Molly Rainford, Carlos Gu, James Bye and Amy Dowden ran out wearing Rylan masks and carrying balloons.
Rylan then got very excited when he spotted a TV chef, exclaiming: ‘It’s Rustie Lee!’
In 2021, he was covered in silly string upon arriving at the studio. The team made it up to him with a series of video messages from some of his celebrity pals including Natalie Cassidy, Steps and Michelle Visage, wishing him a happy birthday.
Innuendos to rival Great British Bake Off
Strictly pro Kai Widdrington, 27, had to perform pat-a-cake as many times as possible in 30 seconds in a bid for a world record.
‘It’s blooming hard, that metal thing [which was Kai’s pat-a-cake partner] was getting bashed around the place,’ the dancer remarked.
Rylan quickly picked up on the innuendo, and replied: ‘It’s BBC Two Kai.’
Later in the conversation, Rylan couldn‘t resist getting in on the action.
Upon finding out he was below Neil Jones on the leaderboard Kai said: ‘I can’t have Neil Jones on top of me like that, that’s awful’.
‘Well, some wouldn’t mind it,’ Rylan quickly chimed back.
Complete honesty
One time when Amy and Karim Zeroual sat on the It Takes Two couch, Rylan was a little tired of their story about a slight mishap in a dance routine.
We basically saw a reenactment of Pam’s ‘I’m not being funny Stacey, but what you just said was really boring’ from Gavin and Stacey (a show Rylan is a big fan of).
Amy, 31, said: ‘We had a measuring tape at the start, and the choreography with the tape at the start was totally different to every other time we did it.
‘When I put it round him, he was supposed to grab this one, and I was supposed to grab this one, but with the suit and everything, they were too close together.’
Karim, 29, added: “I was supposed to hold the thing.”
Rylan was growing bored and told the pair: ‘Oh my God, I’m bored already’, which amused Karim.
He then added: ‘Oh I’ve just been told Hollywood are on the phone as we speak, they want to make a biopic about this!’
We love that he doesn’t mince his words.
Getting the tea
While some hosts may be afraid to address potential Strictly romances, Rylan delighted in making some couples squirm.
When AJ Odudu and Kai were a pairing, rumours swirled that perhaps they were more than friends.
He told the pair: ‘Let’s talk about the elephant in the room guys, the elephant in the room.’
Kai and AJ, 35, looked visibly nervous before Rylan asked: ‘Kai, why were AJ’s legs wrapped around your neck, babes?’ in reference to their routine.
Teeth troubles
When Tom Fletcher was explaining how difficult it was to smile while performing on Strictly, Rylan who had recently had his veneers redone could instantly relate.
‘It is at the minute,’ Rylan said, as the studio erupted into laughter.
‘Still swollen, still swollen,’ he added, with Tom, 37, complimenting, ‘They look great!’
Not one to be shy and retiring he gave his new teeth their moment in a grand entrance onto the show.
He walked on to the set holding a Phantom of the Opera-esque mask in honour of the show’s upcoming musical’s week, before revealing his showbiz smile.
We’re going to miss you Rylan!
Strictly Come Dancig: It Takes Two returns later this year to BBC Two and BBC iPlayer.
