The professional dancer has tried to remain in high spirits throughout her journey, and despite being unable to perform in this year’s series of Strictly, , which she described as ‘just the tonic’ she needs amid her health battle.

Amy has been supported throughout her cancer diagnosis by friends and family, including her husband Ben Jones, and her twin sister,

Who is Amy Dowden’s husband?

, married in a romantic ceremony in Wales in July 2022, after their wedding was postponed twice due to the Covid pandemic.

The couple’s wedding was attended by family and friends, including Amy’s Strictly co-star Dianne Buswell, who served as a bridesmaid.

She told  at the time: ‘It was a stunning venue. I always knew I wanted to get married in Wales.

‘The day was a celebration of Ben and me.’

Like his wife, Ben is also a professional dancer and the couple were once British National Latin Dance champions, becoming the first all-British pair to win the competition.

The couple first me in 2011 and Ben proposed to Amy on New Year’s Eve in 2017.

Sharing an Instagram post on the pair’s birthday, Amy said: ‘Happy birthday to my beautiful, kind, talented twin!  ????Hope your day is as lovely as you and for sure next year we are making up for it! Love you bex and thank you for everything you always do for me.’

Becky and Amy appear to be close, as Becky often shares pictures of the pair on her Instagram, and was Amy’s Maid of Honour for her wedding.

Amy also recently shared on her Instagram story that Becci took last week off work to help look after her sister following her latest round of chemotherapy.

In an Instagram Story, honouring her mum and dad, Amy wrote: ‘Happy 40th anniversary to my wonderful parents’.

‘The best role models and Lloyd, Rebecca and I are blessed and lucky to have you as our parents. Devoted their lives to each other and their children.’

Amy also recently and apologised for not being able to celebrate with him the way she had planned due to his cancer diagnosis.

In and Instagram post, she said: ‘I’m sorry it’s not the birthday planned. Better times ahead and we will have even more to celebrate. Smile and look forward whilst you get up to your antics.’
