Suranne Jones as Anne Lister
Anne will be determined to make her marriage to Ann work, despite various complications which arise throughout the new season.
We’ve seen Suranne all over the box in recent years, starring in BBC drama Vigil, the titular role in Doctor Foster and Sergeant Rachel Bailey in ITV’s Scott and Bailey.
Sophie Rundle as Ann Walker
Troubled Ann doesn’t quite have the confidence of her partner, who will be seen having to persuade her to step up more in season two. She’s also had struggles with her mental health, and will be in the care of a doctor as the episodes begin.
Fans have recently seen Sophie as in Peaky Blinders, and she also starred in BBC drama The Nest, opposite Martin Compston back in 2020.
Gemma Whelan as Marian Lister
Anne’s loving sister Marian will return as she helps to guide her sibling through her turbulent marriage and new responsibilities as a wife.
Gemma is known for her roles in Killing Eve, and as Yara Greyjoy in the HBO fantasy-drama series Game of Thrones.
Joanna Scanlan as Isabella Norcliffe
Isabella will be introduced to viewers as an ex-lover of Anne, and we can’t wait to see how she mixes things up.
Joanna is the main new cast addition for season two and has been seen in comedy shows such as The Thick Of It, No Offence and as matriarch Ma Larkin in the revamped version of The Darling Buds Of May.
She recently in the film After Love.
Lydia Leonard as Marianna Lawton
Lydia is back to play Marianna, who is Anne’s scorned lover desperate to get her attention once more.

Timothy West as Jeremy Lister
Timothy returns as Anne’s father Jeremy, who is still in charge at Shibden Hall.
The veteran actor has had a lengthy career in TV, theatre and more, and is known for his roles of Stan Carter in EastEnders, Ted in Last Tango In Halifax and Geoffrey in Lee Mack’s comedy, Not Going Out.
Stephanie Cole as Aunt Ann Walker
Fans love straight-talking Aunt Ann Walker, who isn’t best pleased with her niece’s relationship with Lister, so we’re sure she’ll be up to more meddling this time around.
Legendary actress Stephanie has recently appeared in Still Open All Hours, Man and as Sylvia Goodwin in ITV’s Coronation Street.

Viewers will see all eyes are on Lister and Walker as they decide to set up home together at Shibden Hall as newlyweds.

Season two of Gentleman Jack will fill the empty slot left by Peaky Blinders when it returns on Sunday, April 10 at 9pm.
New episodes will air at the same time each week, with eight instalments in total for viewers to get stuck into.
Season one is currently on BBC iPlayer, and new episodes will be added to the streaming service after they air.
American fans can also watch the show as it streams on HBO in the States.
