has become firm friends with Gwyneth Paltrow after quizzing the Hollywood star on her famous romances, fame and tribulations.
The presenter spoke to the Shakespeare In Love actress in the latest episode of her Wylde Moon podcast.
Even before meeting, Holly, 41, and Gwyneth, 49, had plenty in common with both the proud founders of women’s lifestyle brands Wylde Moon and Goop respectively.
During the recent episode, Gwyneth recalled how her fame exploded after starring in crime thriller Seven and going on to date her co-star, , for three years.
‘It was pretty crazy. I marvel a little bit at how I kind of got through being in the public eye to that degree for so long,’ the actress said of the intense level of fame she experienced at the time.
‘Because it can be surprising how the energetic force of negativity that can come at you can be pretty significant.
‘And I also don’t think it’s healthy for any human being to have that kind of attention on them. I actually don’t think fame is very good for anybody whatsoever.’
She added : ‘But I was really thrust into it – I had been doing a few small parts in a couple of good films. Then all of a sudden I was in Seven and Brad Pitt and I fell in love. Then I started getting chased everywhere that I went and that persisted for a couple of decades.’
Holly later bonded with the Oscar-winning actress over womanhood and finding self-confidence in her 40s.
The TV presenter confessed: ‘In my own personal life, I feel like the last few years I’ve been on a journey…
‘I’m definitely becoming more confident in using my own voice, I’m really trying to work on truly believing in myself and not just saying it but actually really feeling it, and I’m working on that.’
After confirming Holly’s age, Gwyneth validated the host’s feelings and said: ‘That’s about the time when it starts happening.’
The Iron Man star said: ‘Hopefully the change I see in my daughter, that glimmer of hope that that generation is going to be different, but women culturally we’re not raised to listen to our instincts and our voice and sometimes it’s a real pain in the ass.
‘When I turned 40 I felt like I got a software upgrade and I was like, “Oh, I kind of don’t give a f**k what anyone thinks about me. This is kind of refreshing”.’
Gwyneth noted that she’ll be turning 50 in September and feels ‘more myself than I’ve ever felt’ as she approaches the milestone.
Holly agreed: ‘It’s actually impossible for me not to be myself now. It absolutely terrified me at the beginning because I’m a massive people-pleaser and the last thing I want, I don’t want to offend or upset somebody.
‘I’ve been waiting to get to know me.’
