The books spanned eight films, butdidn’t have quite the screen time they perhaps anticipated.

plays Harry Potter’s girlfriend Ginny Weasley in the wizarding , and she is also Ron Weasley’s little sister.

Ginny appeared in all eight films, but while she was a fan favourite in the books with her trademark wit and fierce personality, critics have long argued the films don’t do her justice.

Other than a few one-liners in the films – including ‘Good luck,’ in the first and ‘I’m not wearing that, it’s ghastly,’ over Ron’s dress robes in the fourth – Ginny’s on screen role isn’t up to much.

Indeed, in the latest episode of  Bonnie revealed how not being able to fully flesh out Ginny on screen made her ‘anxious and frustrated’.

‘I definitely feel there was anxiety toward performing and doing the best thing as my character built, for instance,’ she said.

‘Like, “Oh gosh, will I do justice to this character that people love?” So that was always hard to do, especially when, inevitably, a lot of the scenes of every character were chopped down from the book to the film. So you didn’t really have as much to show in the film.

‘Sometimes that was a little disappointing because there were parts of the character that just didn’t get to come through because there weren’t the scenes to do that,’ she continued.

‘That made me feel a bit anxious or just frustrated, I guess.’

At the time, Bonnie didn’t protest about the slimming of her role from book to screen as there was ‘no room for much change in those scripts.’

‘I think what I maybe took, which I don’t take so much to heart now, is I kind of felt that maybe my anxiety was about, “Oh, I’m going to be seen as badly portraying this character,” rather than later realising that I wasn’t really given the opportunity to do that. So it wasn’t really my fault, exactly,’ she said.

Arriving on set aged nine and leaving a decade later at 19, Bonnie added that her character was always ‘well-respected’ and she personally felt very ‘supported’ throughout the filming process.

Bonnie revealed how when fans do ever share their disappointment, they said it wasn’t her fault, but they just wanted more Ginny – just like with other characters.

Time will surely not be a problem in the upcoming TV adaptation of Harry Potter, as each season is set to cover just one book.

This comes after the star announced she is expecting her first child with her husband Andrew Lococo, .
