Another major 2022 release has seen a delay into 2023, as Hogwarts Legacy leaves one less game for God Of War: Ragnarök to compete with.
After already being , Warner Bros. seemed pretty confident that it would have Hogwarts Legacy out .
Unfortunately for fans everywhere, the company has postponed its launch again. The good news is that it hasn’t been given a nebulous release window and is now scheduled for February 10, 2023 preceisely.
That’s only for the PlayStation, , and PC versions though. The Nintendo Switch version lacks a release window altogether, but Warner Bros. promises to reveal it soon.
The Nintendo Switch version coming later isn’t too surprising. After all, it’s barely received any focus; we haven’t seen any footage of the game running on Nintendo’s hardware, and its existence was only revealed via an update to the game’s website.
Warner Bros. hasn’t provided a reason for the delay, only giving a generic statement about development needing a bit more time.
‘The team is excited for you to play, but we need a little more time to deliver the best possible game experience,’ reads the announcement.
It’s far from the only game to miss 2022 and be pushed back to next year. Nintendo did the same with its , while Microsoft was forced to delay .
This means that autumn and the run up to Christmas is looking even drier than before, in terms of major game releases.
Some people have even suggested that Hogwarts Legacy’s delay is so the game doesn’t have to compete with God Of War: Ragnarök, which is easily one of the most anticipated games of 2022 and is scheduled for November.
The delay doesn’t mean Warner Bros. has no high profile games for the rest of the year, though.
Gotham Knights, its new Batman without Batman title, is still planned for an October 25 launch.
Hogwarts Legacy launches for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC on February 10, 2023. The Nintendo Switch version will release some time afterwards.
