With two campmates needed, those interested were advised to put themselves forward, with the group then tasked with reaching a verdict together.
While there was a unanimous vote supporting after he put his hand up, several others, including Fred and Sam .
‘I’m happy to go as well. Happy to do it and you know, want to bring some stars back for the team,’ Sam said.
‘I think Marv should definitely be going because you haven’t done one yet and I know you are superman. And Fred, if you want to do it…’
However, jumping in, Fred then made it clear he didn’t want Sam taking the other place.
‘Don’t worry, I’m going. You can carry on playing with your toys, we’ll do the men’s stuff. I’m going with Marvin, I’ve already decided,’ he declared.
He continued: ‘You go tomorrow! I think the decision has been made. I think you’re all happy.’
While the group decided to let Fred have his way, those watching on at home made it clear they didn’t like the way he spoke to Sam.
‘The way Fred just spoke to Sam was disgusting,’ one person posted on X, formerly Twitter.
‘That comment had me fuming,’ someone else shared.
Another added: ‘What Fred said to Sam was so uncalled for.’
Many others called him a ‘bully’, while others said the way he had spoken to Sam was ‘patronising’.
Speaking in the Bush Telegraph, Sam said: ‘I hope he doesn’t think that I just want to stay in camp. I really, really want to help. I also don’t want to argue about it. I don’t have a backbone. I’m not going to sit there and say, “No I want to do it”.’
Many other campmates questioned Fred’s pushiness to take part in another trial, with Nick Pickard saying the First Dates star ‘likes putting himself forward’.
‘I’ve got no problem with Fred going at all, but I don’t think he even took it to the vote, he was going no matter what,’ he added.
Meanwhile Danielle Harold said was ‘very forceful once he’s decided’.
At the end of the trial, Fred and Marvin returned with five stars out of a possible eight that had been up for grabs.
