Mike, 44, is the ever to compete on the programme, speculating ahead of his entrance that his old rugby teammates will .
The English former rugby union player has appeared on other reality TV shows before, including The Jump and Bear Grylls: Mission Survive.
As viewers decide whether or not he has what it takes to become the next King of the Jungle, is he also within the British royal family?
Here’s what you need to know.
Is Mike Tindall in line to the throne – and could he be King?
While Mike is a member of the royal family, he isn’t , as he married into the Firm, rather than being born into it.
However, his wife Zara is in the line of succession, as the granddaughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II, daughter of Princess Anne and niece of King Charles III.
Who is Mike Tindall’s wife?
Mike and Zara – who was never given the title of Princess – were married in 2011 and share three children together: Mia, born in January 2014; Lena, born in June 2018; and Lucas, born in March 2021.
Zara earned a silver medal at the London 2012 Olympics, which was presented to her by Princess Anne, having pursued her equestrian career after university.
She was unable to compete in the Olympics in Athens in 2004 or in Beijing in 2008 after her horse became injured, and failed to qualify for the tournament held in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
In 2006, Zara was voted BBC Sports Personality of the Year by the general public, an accolade also won by her mother 35 years prior in 1971.
She received an MBE in the 2007 New Year Honours list for her services to equestrianism.
Where are Zara and Mike Tindall in the line of succession?
The royal family’s line of succession stipulates that Zara – named on the list as ‘Mrs Michael Tindall’ – is 20th in line to the throne.
Her three children follow after her, with Mia being 21st in line to the throne, Lena 22nd and Lucas 23rd.
Mike isn’t on the line of succession, having married into the royal family.
Therefore, if ever the circumstance arose that Zara became Queen, he would likely be named the Prince Consort, just as Prince Philip was known during Queen Elizabeth II’s reign, and Prince Albert when Queen Victoria was the monarch.
I’m A Celebrity 2022 launches tonight at 9pm on ITV.
