’s girlfriend is pretty easygoing when it comes to his stand-up routines – but there’s one thing he’s not allowed to joke about.
Appearing on on Friday (April 29), the comedian spoke about hitting the road again the title of which was inspired by his reluctance to accept that he is, in fact, an adult.
Jack, 34, also shared the reaction to the material he’s been testing so far – revealing what actually thinks.
‘What does Roxy feel about the material that you come up with, that’s your girlfriend, because comedians talk about their lives and what they’re going through, so how does she feel being part of it?’, host Emma Willis began.
‘Yeah, I mean, she’s ok with it,’ Jack began, earning a laugh from the studio.
‘It’s been a process,’ he admitted.
‘She’s had to acclimatise to the fact that I talk about her on stage. Weirdly, though, she came to see the show the other day and I was doing all this material about her, she was absolutely fine with all of these jokes, and I was talking about quite indiscrete stuff, bedroom antics, jokes at the expense that she’s from the wonderful county of Essex, that came up on more than one occasion… she watched the whole show.’
However, there was one thing the model absolutely wasn’t fine with.
‘Afterwards, the only thing she took umbrage with was the fact that I was making jokes about our dog,’ Jack revealed.
In a sassy voice, Jack mocked: ‘She was like, “You can make as many jokes as you like about me, do not bring that beautiful creature into your sordid act!”
‘And so I’ve been told off and had a wrist slap for doing jokes about our dog.’
Emma then quipped that a dog is like a ‘child,’ to which Jack said: ‘That’s what she always says to me, she’s like, “Oh you need to treat our dog like it’s your actual child,” and I’m straight onto Google, are there boarding schools for dogs?’
He admitted, though, that it’s ‘impossible’ for him to not joke about their pooch because it’s ‘ridiculous.’
‘I wanted to get, like, a proper hound, you know a dog that got me respect and a little bit of distance when I’m walking down the street on the way to the boozer.
‘And we compromised and got a toy poodle! Which is the most absurd dog you’ve ever seen. It looks like it came out of a Kinder Surprise, so there are a lot of jokes at the expense of the dog.’
Jack and Roxy were first linked at the start of 2020 and moved in together that March during the first lockdown.
Their romance has only gone from strength to strength since, with Roxy particularly praising Jack during her health struggles.
Roxy – who has type 1 diabetes – previously told : ‘Jack’s been my absolute rock, he’s so lovely.Â
‘He was there when I got diagnosed. My parents and my family live in Australia, so he has been my family. We’re amazing.’
The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.
