All Elite Wrestling star Jade Cargill is reportedly ‘finishing up’ with the company amid speculation she could be making a shock move to .
The former TBS Champion – who was the first person to hold the title and did so for 508 days, a record for any AEW championship – is said to be ‘likely’ to be leaving Tony Khan’s promotion following the tapings on Wednesday night.
According to Fightful Select, sources have said she may have made her last appearance, although it’s unclear how much time is left on her contract.
The outlet noted that while there is no word of an official offer being made from WWE – which is now part of TKO following – the belief within both that company and AEW is that she’s heading to the sports entertainment giant.
Cargill returned after a long absence on AEW Collision over the weekend, setting up a match with TBS Champion Kris Statlander for Friday’s episode of AEW Rampage.
The show was filmed following AEW Dynamite last night, and online reports of the show have confirmed Statlander beat Cargill clean to retain the title.
It’s believed that’s down to the current situation, with the former champ expected to leave as things stand.
Meanwhile, there has also been a lot of speculation about the future of CM Punk – real name Phil Brooks – after after All In London, with fans wondering if a sensational return to WWE could be on the cards.
The former WWE Champion was fired after a backstage altercation at Wembley Stadium with and AEW boss Tony Khan, and his wrestling future remains unclear.
WWE president Nick Khan – who has a new title following the completion of the WWE/UFC merger with new company TKO under the Endeavor umbrella – has offered a cryptic response.
Asked if there was to the company he left in 2014 under acrimonious circumstances, Nick told : ‘Listen, we only have respect for Phil.
‘We appreciate his run here. We appreciate what he did and tried to do with the UFC. Not many people can actually get in there and do what he did. So, when we have respect for Phil, we wish him nothing but the best.’
