Jenny McCarthy has defended her decision to stay put and not walk off during Rudy Giuliani’s appearance on The Masked Singer .

behind the character Jack in the Box after a very poor rendition of “Bad to the Bone” by George Thorogood and the Destroyers, which resulted in fellow judges and Robin Thicke walking out as the former attorney to talked with host Nick Cannon.

McCarthy, however, stayed on along with fellow judge Nicole Scherzinger.

And now she has defended her decision while making an appearance on Wednesday’s (September 7) Watch What Happens Live: ‘Like everyone that gets unmasked, I [was] completely shocked.

‘Everyone is in their own wheelhouse in terms of how they handle their shock. The fact it was a political figure that was polarizing to half of the country [was] hard.

‘I’m from the Midwest. I have plenty of family that [didn’t] have a problem with it,’ she added.

She added that she decided that she would choose to be ‘professional’ in that situation and hopes that The Masked Singer can bridge the gap between Republicans and the Democrats.

‘I kind of checked in with myself at that moment and said I’m going to be a professional and I’m going to hope that this show brings together both sides,’ she said.

Giuliani’s appearance on the show was met with intense backlash, but McCarthy had expressed her gratitude to him, for making an appearance at the time.

She also doubled down on her reason for not leaving, insisting that there has to be an avenue where politics does not interfere.

‘There has to be some place where everyone can just be entertained. The fact that Rudy Giuliani was there for his grandchildren. He wasn’t there to run a campaign. I was just like, “I will stand here and finish the show and give him at least that,”’ she said.

The Masked Singer will be returning later this month with a brand new format while the likes of Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, The Muppets and Tori Spelling will all be making appearances.

The Masked Singer airs on FOX in the US.
