Jodie is set to bow out of the beloved BBC sci-fi drama alongside showrunner Chris Chibnall next month in the centenary special, as the 13th Time Lord.
star will then be taking over as the 14th Time Lord, saying at the time of the announcement that he was ‘deeply honoured, beyond excited and of course a little bit scared.’
The BBC has now confirmed that Jodie’s last go as The Doctor in The Power of the Doctor will air on Sunday, October 23.
It’s the last of three specials that have aired throughout this year, marking the final instalment after the first two parts of the memorated trilogy having been broadcast throughout 2022.
Along with announcing the release date, the BBC has revealed the new trailer for the highly-anticipated episode.
Mandip Gill, John Bishop, Sophie Aldred, Janet Fielding and Sacha Dhawan will return to Jodie’s side in the feature-length special.
The episode will see the 13th Doctor ‘fight for her very existence against her deadliest enemies: the Daleks, the Cyberman and her arch-nemesis, the Master.’
The episode synopsis teases: ‘Who is attacking a speeding bullet train on the edges of a distant galaxy? Why are seismologists going missing from 21st century Earth? Who is defacing some of history’s most iconic paintings? Why is a Dalek trying to make contact with the Doctor? And just what hold does the mesmeric Rasputin have over Tsar Nicholas in 1916 Russia?

Jodie has , saying: ‘It’s got all the iconic things that you associate with Doctor Who. It’s massive.’
Shedding light on her emotional final scene, she said: ‘I love the dialogue Chris wrote for my regeneration. It captures my Doctor beautifully. It’s simple, epic, and beautiful.’
Jodie explained that the scene was filmed in one long take. Speaking to , she added: ‘When I could see the crew was happy with that last shot, that’s when my bottom lip started going.
‘I was like, “Well, they can’t say they need another take now because I’ve f*cking lost it!”’
