has admitted he is ‘struggling’ after joining Greatest Hits Radio.

The Scottish broadcaster, 72, left his position at Radio 2 earlier this month, weeks earlier than originally planned,

Ken’s replacement, , will be tasked with filling his shoes from next Monday (April 9), with veteran presenter Gary Davies currently standing in.

From 1986 until earlier this year, Ken’s show began at 9.30am and finished between 11.30 and midday, but things have changed for him now.

The mid-morning show on Greatest Hits Radio now starts at 10am with an afternoon finish time of 1pm, when Kate Thornton takes over.

It’s a change in schedule that Ken has admitted he’s ‘struggling’ with as he learns to adapt to his new role.

He told PA: ‘I’m struggling to work my day out. I think I’m going to be going to bed an hour later because I just have to squeeze everything in.

‘Once I get my body clock right, I think I’ll be all right, but I’m really enjoying having a half-hour extra in bed every morning.’

A problem Ken has confessed to is the potential of him ‘looking for lunch’ at 12.30pm, with 30 minutes of presenting still left to do.

With the future in mind, Ken also reflected on his time at the BBC and specifically at Radio 2, where he had been a presenter since 1986.

‘I think it’s a great organisation. It was just time for me to leave and now it’s been quite a few weeks and really, I’m looking forward to Greatest Hits Radio.’

On Monday morning, listeners who had followed Ken over from Radio 2 for music quiz PopMaster were left scrambling after the Greatest Hits Radio website and app both crashed.

The crash was caused by the number of listeners who flocked to the station at 10.30am for the first edition of PopMaster in almost a month.

When Ken left Radio 2, he took PopMaster with him to his new home – and there are even plans to turn the beloved quiz into a TV show.

According to , ‘The DJ is in talks to present a TV version of the music challenge,’ after the BBC ‘failed to trademark it’.

Ken Bruce on Greatest Hits Radio airs weekdays from 10am to 1pm.
