has opened up on the operation she underwent this week after sharing a hospital snap online, insisting she’s as ‘fit as a fiddle’.
In a recent Instagram post, the TV personality uploaded a photo of herself in a hospital gown sitting up in bed, with a tube in her nose and a paper bedpan resting on her head.
Smiling at the camera, the 80-year-old wrote in the caption: ‘My hospital outfit. Do you like the hat? Home tonight! Yippeee!’
Following messages sent from fans wishing her well and questioning what happened, Kim appeared on to shut down speculation that she’s been ill.
Speaking to Anne Diamond and Stephen Dixon, she told the presenters that she’s ‘not ill’, before informing them that she was going to give them a ‘scoop’.
Pulling down her top slightly, she revealed a bandage on her neck, as Anne’s jaw dropped with shock.
‘I’ve got this on my neck. Now I had my neck cut yesterday. I did! I had a very bad disc in the back of my neck right here, and it was affecting my hands, so I haven’t been able to use them,’ Kim explained.
‘So I went into hospital on Wednesday and he’s cut my throat a big gash here – I’ve just had a chin lift you know, what a waste of money.’
The former Celebrity Big Brother contestant outlined how the doctor cut her throat and then ‘went in with his fingers, took out the disc in this hole in my neck and put a titanium disc in.’
‘How he did it through this hole I don’t know,’ she added.
Despite undergoing the gruesome procedure, Kim was still in high spirits in the hospital, revealing how she joked around with the bedpan when she was offered it to use for the toilet.
Having told the doctors that she would use an actual toilet to go the bathroom, she proceeded to stick the paper pot on her head before asking the doctor: ‘Do you like my new hat?’
‘I put it on my internet, my husband put it on for me. I’ve had calls from America, “Kim! Kim! Ooh Kim’s ill!”’ she said.
‘A few hours after my surgery – it’s painful, I’ve got stitches – they sent me home. And my love, I’m fit as a fiddle.
‘I’ve got about four or five weeks to rest but I’ve got this big cut throat. Mind, it’s not stopped me talking, you’ve noticed that. I’m never short of a word.’
