Saturday Kitchen viewers have slammed after a quip she made about ’s backfired.

Appearing on a pre-recorded episode of Matt Tebbut’s BBC show this morning, the Love Island host made a playful jibe at Tasha, who left the villa earlier this month in fourth place with .

Speaking about rosé, Laura tried to take a dig about Tasha’s lack of wine knowledge, but when one of the Saturday Kitchen guests jumped in to correct the Irish presenter, fans were quick to comment on how things had ‘backfired’.

Laura, who was making her Saturday Kitchen debut, was speaking about how much she and her husband, Love Island narrator Iain Stirling love rosé, before saying: ‘Also, Tasha on Love Island this year she thought rose wine was red white and white wine mixed together which is apparently not how you make it.’

Helen McGinn jumped in and added: ‘Well I have to say Tasha’s not completely wrong.’

Laura added: ‘Oh! Go on!’ as Helen explained: ‘In Champagne you are allowed to mix red and white wine to make rose, but only in Champagne in France.’

Laura replied: ‘Do you think Tasha thought that?’ to which Helen said: ‘I love Tasha!’

Viewers weren’t too happy over Laura’s comments, with one sharing: ‘One minute in and Laura has already tried to shame someone else’s intelligence, only for it to backfire and she has come out as the stupid one.’

Another penned: ‘Will Laura Whitmore be eating a slice of humble pie on #SaturdayKitchen? We can only hope.’

Laura later shared a screenshot of Tasha inviting the host for a ‘bottle of rosé together,’ captioning the post: ‘I’ve got the fridge stocked!! Rosé o clock!’

The 37-year-old Irish host recently wrapped up series eight of the annual ITV2 dating programme, which saw  and  crowned 2022 winners.

Reflecting on her time as presenter, Laura branded the eight-week stint as ‘exhausting and tough.’

‘It’s still something I’m working through myself privately,’ she said during the 

‘I had to also think about it for my own mental health side, because I love the show, but it comes with a lot of s**t.’

‘The host only comes on three or four times, it’s always been the way, but it gets the most attention. It’s a bit exhausting and it’s tough,’ she added.
