Lewis Capaldi taunts Glastonbury audience teasing surprise appearance from Ed Sheeran

has epically trolled the crowd after teasing that would be joining him on stage.

He kicked off his set with his single Forget Me, however soon after he told the audience that he was going to be joined on stage by Ed, who co-wrote his song .

‘Ed has been in America for the last little while so he’s not been over in the UK doing much, but we’re close friends,’ he began.

‘So I phone him up and say “This weekend I’m playing the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury, it’s a big thing”, we’re good friends…’

The crowd started screaming as Lewis continued: ‘Ladies and gentlemen… Ed Sheeran’.

However he quickly clarified and said he was taking them for a ride.

‘He’s not f***ing here, but it would be cool if he was,’ he laughed as he launched into the song.

Lewis’ return to the stage had plenty of other stand-out moments as well.

After first admitting that he was ‘s***ting his pants’ ahead of performing at the iconic music festival, he later took his shirt off after some not-so gentle encouragement from the audience.

The performance came after Lewis released a heartfelt and honest statement a few weeks back which revealed how he needed to take some time off after struggling with his physical and .

‘This is a really difficult message, and one that hurts me a lot to have to type, but I’m really sorry to say that I’m going to have to cancel all commitments from now until I play Glastonbury on June 24,’ he wrote.

He went on to explain that ‘the last few months have been full on both mentally and physically’ and was ‘struggling to get to grips with it all’, so needed to take a moment to ‘rest and recover’.
