Lisa Marie Presley has described as ‘nothing short of spectacular’, and predicted that ’s performance as the titular legendary musician will win him an Oscar.
The 54-year-old daughter of the late shared her thoughts on the film on Twitter, during which she said the 30-year-old actor ‘channeled and embodied my father’s heart & soul beautifully’, and if he didn’t win an Academy Award she ‘will eat my own foot’.
Singer and actress Lisa explained that she had been off social media as , who took his own life aged 27. She is also mother to 32-year-old actress and twins Finely and Harper Lockwood.
‘I do want to take a moment to let you know that I’ve seen Baz Luhrmann’s movie Elvis twice now,’ she tweeted. ‘Let me tell you that it is nothing short of spectacular. Absolutely exquisite. Austin Butler channelled and embodied my father’s heart & soul beautifully.’
She continued: ‘In my humble opinion, his performance is unprecedented and FINALLY done accurately and respectfully. (If he doesn’t get an Oscar for this, I will eat my own foot, haha.)
‘You can feel and witness Baz’s pure love, care, and respect for my father throughout this beautiful film, and it is finally something that myself and my children and their children can be proud of forever.’
Lisa added that she was also moved to tears by watching her children ‘visibly overwhelmed in the best possible way’ by the film, as they were ‘so filled with pride about their grandfather and his legacy in a way that I have not previously experienced.’
Touching on the loss of her son Benjamin, she added: ‘It breaks my heart that my son isn’t here to see it. He would have absolutely loved it as well. I can’t tell you enough how much I love this film and I hope you love it too. Everyone involved poured their hearts and souls into it, which is evidenced in their performances.’
Finally, she thanked filmmaker Baz for his ‘beautiful and inspiring’ film: ‘Baz, your utter genius combined with your love and respect for my father and this project is just so beautiful and so inspiring. I know I’m being repetitive, but I don’t care, Thank you for setting the record straight in such a deeply profound and artistic way.’
The film chronicles Elvis’ career through his complex relationship with his manager Colonel Tom Parker (played by Tom Hanks).

Elvis is finally landing in cinemas next month, slated to be released on June 24, after production was halted due to the pandemic.
