Lorraine Kelly confused over Ed Sheeran’s Coronation absence after replacing Katy Perry on American Idol

has expressed disappointment that would be skipping the King’s Coronation and instead will appear on American Idol.

The Shape Of You singer, 32, is on the ABCshow while she jets across the pond to perform for this weekend, while Alanis Morissette will stand in for Lionel Richie.

It had been previously reported that the Perfect singer,  in New York, had alongside fellow superstar Adele over schedule conflicts.

Discussing Ed’s impending stint on American Idol on Wednesday’s Lorraine, the Scottish presenter seemed baffled he wouldn’t be present at the King’s celebrations.

‘I would’ve thought Ed would be at the concert but…,’ Lorraine lamented as she trailed off and shrugged.

It had been claimed that the King was ‘very keen’ for the Thinking Out Loud hitmaker and Adele to perform at the coronation because they’re ‘titans of the showbiz industry.’

However, a representative for Ed told Metro.co.uk that neither the star nor his team has even been ‘approached’ about a possible performance.

Ed actually has a show in Texas the day before the Coronation gig, meaning it would be pretty hard (not to mention tiring) for him to make the trip back home.

The Roar singer and Lionel will be joining Olly Murs, Take That and Andrea Bocelli to celebrate the King’s coronation.

Spilling the beans on her preparation,  over staying at actual Windsor Castle for the celebrations.

Keeping tight lipped over her setlist, and how much say the Royals had over her performance, the Firework musician said: ‘They said I was allowed to stay at Windsor Castle which I’m really excited for.

‘I might be posting a lot because I’m going to be in a castle, for real. This is wild.’

The concert will be held on May 7, on the grounds of Windsor Castle with 20,000 in attendance – and is set to be broadcast live on BBC for those who didn’t manage to get tickets.
