is officially the best.
The Barbie star, 33, , and she was never more so when she came across a deaf fan.
The moment was captured in a viral video of the Wolf of Wall Street star interacting with the fan on the red carpet.
When translated from Portuguese, the caption reads: ‘communicating in Sign Language with a fan.’
In the video, Margot looked delighted to be able to put her sign language skills to use and she seemed to pull it off with a fair amount of ease.
Fans were loving the scenes, as one wrote: ‘Wow.. amazing bravo to her.’
Another said: ‘how can you not stan ? be honest,’ while someone else wrote: ‘As if we needed another reason to love her!’ [sic]
There was also some debate among fans over which variation of sign language Margot was using.
One person wrote: ‘I’m deaf and sign fluent ASL. This looks like BSL.’
As a Queensland native, it could be assumed the actor would know Auslan – which is widely used by the Australian deaf community.
ASL is short for American Sign Language, while BSL is British Sign Language.
There are over 300 different sign languages around the world, and they vary from country to country.
Even within countries, sign language has regional accents.
While ASL spells out letters using primarily one hand, BSL and Auslan are similar in that they both use a two-handed fingerspelling system.
As she uses both hands in the video, Margot looks to be using one of the latter languages, which are fairly similar in appearance and, alongside New Zealand Sign Language, are even considered by some experts to be so close they are dialects of the same language.
So while BSL, NSL and Auslan users can understand each other, ASL is a different kettle of fish.
This comes after at the weekend just ahead of the much-anticipated Oppenheimer.
Margot stars alongside Ryan Gosling in the pink-tastic, hilarious blockbuster, while Cillian Murphy, Matt Damon and Florence Pugh led the way for the World War II drama.
