A fan page dedicated to the singer, 54, shared surprising stats on Twitter on Saturday, claiming that her iconic X-mas tune received 316,000 streams on Spotify on September 1, ‘a 75% increase compared to the same day in 2022’.
It seemed this proved too soon even , who retweeted the info on Saturday night on social media platform X, writing: ‘Not yet!!!!’
However, proving she truly is at one with all things festive, she added: ‘I’ll allow it for my Filipino lambs though!’
In the Philippines, who traditionally start celebrating Christmas – or Pasko as it’s known there – as soon as we hit the ‘ber-Months’, making it the longest Christmas season in the world.
Fantasy singer Mariah also added a quick ‘I don’t make the rules!’ for anyone else that might be shocked to see her track already starting its annual climb to dominance.
The chart-topping diva was widely praised for her reaction, with one fan responding: ‘Not mariah being aware of september being the start of christmas season in the Philippines.’
Another replied with a heart-eye emoji, writing: ‘She’s so well versed.’
‘Ms. Carey in the know!!’ cheered someone else.
A US fan then chimed in to joke: ‘The start of the Christmas Season at Costco is August.’
In December 2022, Mariah’s All I Want For Christmas Is You broke Spotify’s record for after being listened to a whopping 21,273,000 times in just 24 hours on Christmas Eve.
The record was previously held by , 34, whose single Easy On Me was played 19,747,000 times by Spotify users on the day it was released in October 2021.
All I Want For Christmas Is You has been listened to a total of 1,454,536,824 times since Spotify launched in 2008 – yes, that’s nearing in on almost 1.5 billion plays.
That’s also gone up by over 30,000,000 between then and today (September 3).
Upon its first release in 1994, the song managed three weeks in a row at number two in the Official UK Charts.
For many years since then it has made it back onto the charts during the festive period, finally cracking the number one spot in December 2020, where its two-week run .
