The MCU is set to welcome a transgender woman to the franchise in upcoming Disney Plus series Ironheart.

‘Coming soon to Disney Plus, Dominique Thorne is genius inventor Riri Williams in Ironheart, an original series about the creator of the most advanced suit of armour since Iron Man,’ a tweet from the studio’s account.
Dominique is due to make her grand entrance in the film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever before appearing in the latest spin-off.Â
Other stars who are so far tied to the six-parter include Lyric Ross and Anthony Ramos.
However, with , fans have finally been given a bit more insight into how the cast might form.
A casting call states they are looking for a ‘Black, Latina or Afro-Latina transgender woman who is around 18-22 years old’ to portray a new character in the series.
The studio goes on to describe their traits as ‘unapologetically nerdy’ and possessing a ‘mystical bent and unique sense of humour’ about things that excite her – even if they might be terrifying to others.
If so, this would be the first transgender woman in the MCU.
Actor Zach Barack appeared in Spider-Man: Far From Home, and became the first openly trans actor in the franchise.
Marvel has been introducing more LGBT+ characters in recent years, with Chloe Zhao’s 2021 film Eternals welcoming the first superhero to be depicted as gay in an MCU film
Brian Tyree Henry starred in the role of Phastos, who is an Eternal and an intelligent weapons and technology inventor.
There are also characters who are depicted as LGBT+ in the MCU comics, where this hasn’t yet made it to their on-screen counterparts.Â
Meanwhile, about the bisexuality of her character Valkyrie.
Fans will see an expanded love story for Valkyrie in Thor: Love and Thunder, which comes to cinemas on July 8.
