It sounds like fan speculation of a second Metal Gear Solid collection was accurate, following an update to the series’ official website.
The confirmation of a , that includes the first three entries in Konami’s stealth series, was a welcome one since it allows new and old fans alike to experience these classic games on modern hardware.
However, since it’s titled Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, there are understandably expectations of a second collection, with more games, at a later date.
What those games could be could only be speculated, but now fans believe that a second collection will come with Metal Gear Solid 4, , and PSP game Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.
Word of this spread thanks to Twitter user Nitroid, who noticed that the official Metal Gear Solid website was recently updated to add buttons on the series timeline for the games available in the upcoming Master Collection.
What was interesting, though, is that there are also placeholder buttons for the three aforementioned games, which very much implies there are plans to re-release them too.
This could’ve just been fans reading too much into things, but believes that not only is a second collection planned, but it will feature exactly those three games.
The inclusion of Metal Gear Solid 4 alone is enough to be excited as that game has never seen a re-release since it launched for the PlayStation 3 in 2008.
It’s unclear if ’s pre-release demo Ground Zeroes will be bundled as well but that seems likely.
This still leaves several Metal Gear games unaccounted for, such as Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, , and the two Metal Gear Acid games. Perhaps Konami is saving them for a third compilation?
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 launches for Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC on October 24.
