The single, taken from the metal band’s third studio album, has entered the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time at number 40 – 36 years after it was originally released in 1986.
And it’s not just climbing the charts in the States. The track looks set to make its debut in the UK singles chart Top 40 after reaching number 27 in the mid-week rankings.
Fans haveafter an unforgettable scene, quickly dubbed one of the best in the season, featuring Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn).
Standing on top of his trailer with his electric guitar, the student plugs in an amp and breaks into a blistering rendition of the titular track to Metallica’s first major album in 1986, with his riff being joined by the full track in the background.
Eddie was using the song to help distract the Upside Down’s bats away from the Creel home so that Steve (Joe Keery), Nancy (Natalia Dyer) and Robin (Maya Hawke) could infiltrate Vecna’s lair with the hopes of killing him.
Metallica have heaped praise on the scene and the Millie Bobby Brown starring show’s soundtrack, that the way its creators the Duffer brothers ‘incorporated music into Stranger Things has always been next level’.
