The world of video game streaming is lightyears away from where it started. So who are the most followed streamers of 2022 so far?

Whether you’re interested in esports or watching a virtual anime girl, video game streaming has something for everyone. The primary home for it is Twitch, a streaming service owned by that got its start in 2007 under the name Justin.tv.

The company shut Justin.tv down and replaced it with Twitch, banking on the popularity of the section of their original website. Which turned out to be a very wise move.

Now, almost anything is streamed on Twitch, from Yu-Gi-Oh to women in hot tubs chatting with their audience.

2. AuronPlay

Following on from this, AuronPlay, Raul Alvarez, sits at 12.4 million followers. He is notable for being the top Spanish star on the platform and got his start on YouTube, which currently has around 28 million subscribers.

He has published books and, during the pandemic, donated thousands of masks to the Catalan health system.

Turner Tenney, better known as Tfue, is a Twitch streamer with 11 million followers. His primary games are Fortnite, Call Of Duty: Warzone, and Minecraft.

Despite being in the top five Twitch channels, he has consistently been under scrutiny by the platform’s users for his use of racial slurs. In 2019 he sued FaZe Clan, an esports organisation, after being pressured to live in one of their houses, and participate in underage drinking and gambling.

5. xQcOW

Felix Lengyel – 10.4 million followers – goes by the names xQc and xQcOW and is a notorious streamer who is consistently featured in different outlets and on Reddit, due to his controversial remarks and Grand Theft Auto role-playing streams.

Despite this, he is routinely featured in various events, including the most recent edition of .

During the Twitch Rivals event, another streamer, dilanzito, claimed that xQc was racist after he said that dilanzito should ‘get a job’.

The event was closed earlier than expected as the North American team took the win and the company decided to reevaluate the competition for the future.
