has revealed how Sir made up with her after he called Hear’Say ‘the ugliest band in the world’.
The was one of the ordinary members of the public chosen by reality series Popstars to form new pop group Hear’Say.
Along with other members Kym Marsh, Danny Foster, Suzanne Shaw, and Noel Sullivan, Myleene achieved two quickfire UK number one singles in 2001.
However, public opinion soon turned against the band, who were forced to split just a year later, citing ‘abuse from the public’ as the main reason.
Among those making snarky comments about Hear’Say at the time was Sir Elton, 76, who called them ‘the ugliest band in the world’.
Myleene revealed that, at the group’s height, they were referred to as ‘the fattest band in pop’ and were pressured to lose weight.
When Myleene later joined the cast of the musical Miss Saigon, she was ordered to lose weight and go by her middle name, Angela.
In the months and years after Hear’Say’s split, and as Myleene began to make her own way in showbiz, she revealed that Sir Elton sent her an apology bouquet.
She explained: ‘I even got sent some flowers from Elton John who said we were the ugliest band in pop. I think he realised he shouldn’t have said that.’
Back in the very early 2000s, Sir Elton told reporters that Hear’Say were ‘the ugliest band [he had] ever seen’ and that he felt sorry for them all.
At the time, Noel said Sir Elton made up with them at the 2001 Royal Variety Performance, calling his own comments ‘immature’.
‘Elton came down to our dressing room and apologised. He said he should never have done it – that was good enough for us.’
In 2007, Hear’Say member and claimed that Sir Elton had also cheekily asked bandmate Danny out on a date to apologise.
During the pandemic, Noel revealed to Metro.co.uk that he during the group’s time in the spotlight.
