NASA leaves Tina Turner fans in tears up with ‘spectacular’ tribute to legend whose ‘legacy will forever live among the stars’

Tributs have been pouring in following the death of , who’s after a long illness.

Withhonouring the late Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll, also paid homage to the late icon.

However, fans of the What’s Love Got To Do With It singer might not have expected a tweet from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration to have moved them as much as it did.

Sharing a stunning photograph taken of a myriad of stars, the tweet read: ‘Simply the best. Music legend Tina Turner sparkled across the stage and into millions of hearts as the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll. Her legacy will forever live among the stars.’

It wasn’t just the initial message that moved some fans to tears, but also the alt text for the image, which is used to describe an image and can be read aloud for people who have visual impairment.

The alt text read: ‘Closeup of a cluster of tightly-packed stars as seen by the Hubble Space Telescope. The sparkles are reminiscent of Tina Turner’s sparkly dresses she would wear on stage. One person commented underneath: ‘SPECTACULAR TWEET @NASA ? beautiful way to honor Tina.’

‘This is beautiful, your words and the image. Thank you ?,’ someone else wrote.

One individual who felt stirred by the message tweeted: ‘I’m not crying. it’s just really dusty.’

‘Nice job on the alt text ✨,’ someone else said, while another added: ‘NASA put the first man on the moon. Tina went to the stars forever.’

One Twitter user described it as ‘the best condolence post I’ve ever seen’.

‘Now she’s the brightest star in the heavens! God Speed Ms. Turner!’ another stated.

A statement posted on the official social media pages for Turner read: ‘It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner.

‘With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow.

‘Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family.

‘Tina, we will miss you dearly.’

Turner, twice inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, first came to prominence in partnership with Ike Turner, who she also married.

The couple separated after Ike became abusive to Turner, and she went on to experience a huge resurgence in her solo career from the 1980s.
