Nish Kumar had to cut a joke about from his set because ‘everyone f***ing hates him now’.

The comedian, 36, is currently touring his live comedy show Your Power, Your Control, with shows coming up across the UK throughout the summer.

His new show combines comedy with , with Kumar not being deterred after after making a joke in 2019.

(Or when The Mash Report was labelled by Andrew Neil as ‘self-satisfied, self-adulatory, unchallenged left-wing propaganda’.)

In fact, the comedian is doubling down on political jokes – but with British politics as chaotic as it is, this means his jokes have to change at short notice.

Kumar told he had to axe a joke about Chancellor Sunak because the tide of public opinion appeared to change against him overnight.

‘I had a whole bit about Rishi Sunak being the beneficiary of culturally lowered expectations,’ he said.

‘But now, literally in the last week, that joke doesn’t work anymore because everyone f***ing hates him now.

He added: ‘That joke literally no longer works.’

Sunak had seemingly enjoyed enduring popularity throughout his time as Chancellor, even being dubbed ‘Dishy Rishi’ by some.

Following the BBC’s cancellation of The Mash Report, Kumar headed over to Dave for a replacement show, Late Night Mash.

However he let the show go after just one series, telling Metro.co.uk it ‘felt like a logical point’.

‘I think personally, I’m really proud of the episodes we did and it just felt like a good moment for me to try something different,’ he said.

Kumar also spoke about his excitement ahead of Your Power, Your Control getting on the road, telling Metro.co.uk touring shows was his ‘favourite thing that I get to do.’

‘I’m 50% excited and 50% petrified but I think that’s natural.’
