Acclaimed action movie Godzilla Minus One unexpectedly dropped on overnight, worldwide.

The two hour action sci-fi became a favourite amongst fans last year not only totting up an impressive 98% score on from critics and viewers alike but also blowing all the competition out of the water by snatching up for best visual effects.

This is despite the Takashi Yamazak-directed film having a very modest budget of around $15million (£11million). It was also the first in the 70-year-long franchise associated with the iconic cinematic monster Godzilla to land an Academy Award.

The film, which grossed over $100million (£78million) at the box office, is set in in the aftermath of the US atomic bombings during .

It follows a kamikaze pilot named Kōichi Shikishima (Ryunosuke Kamiki), who lands on Odo Island and soon comes face to face with Godzilla, an atomically mutated monster destroying everything in sight.

The movie is available to watch on streaming giant Netflix, except in Japan and France, and so now is your chance to see all the hype for yourself.

‘The possibility of standing on this stage seemed out of reach, but here we stand!’ Takashi said during his Oscars acceptance speech.

Reviewers hailed the Godzilla Minus One when it originally came out and now fans are celebrating its arrival on the streaming platform.
