Oscar-winning director’s wife ‘files for divorce after 14 years’

’s wife Emily Stofle has reportedly filed for from the Twins Peak director after more than a decade of marriage.

The who won an honorary Oscar in 2019, tied the knot with Emily, 45, in 2006 after she appeared in his film Inland .

However, the actress now wants to officially and legally end their 14-year union, according to documents obtained by .

Emily is asking for sole legal and physical custody of their 11-year-old daughter, Lula Boginia Lynch, and wants the Mulholland Drive filmmaker to be granted visitation rights.

Emily, who is David’s fourth wife and appeared in the 2017 Twin Peaks reboot, is also seeking spousal support and attorney’s fees.

It is not believed the pair had a pre-nuptial agreement in place.

The Elephant Man filmmaker was previously married to Peggy Reavey, and shares film director daughter Jennifer Lynch with her,as well as Mary Fisk, the mother of his son Austin Lynch.

His third wife was Mary Sweeney, who worked on his projects as an actress including Lost Highway.He also shares son Riley Lynch with her.

David famously made the 1984 movie Dune and because he still regards the project as a ‘heartache’ and a ‘total failure’, he previously insisted he had ‘zero interest’ in seeing Denis Villeneuve’s version of the story, which is based on Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel.

The commercially successful and critically acclaimed recent remake of Dune starred Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, while .

David told The Hollywood Reporter: ‘I have zero interest in Dune … it was a heartache for me. It was a failure and I didn’t have final cut.

‘I’ve told this story a billion times. It’s not the film I wanted to make. I like certain parts of it very much – but it was a total failure for me.’

Asked whether he’ll be watching Denis’ film, he insisted: ‘I said I’ve got zero interest.’
