Ozzy Osbourne has announced he will not be returning to the stage this October for Power Trip festival due to his health.

The Black Sabbath singer, 74, explained he had optimistically signed up to perform at the event in California, but that his body is ‘not ready yet’ and that he doesn’t want to put on a ‘half-assed’ show.

He had initially this year following extensive spinal surgery as he is ‘not physically capable’ of the travel involved.

Breaking the news of his cancellation, Ozzy shared a statement on Instagram that read: ‘As painful as this is, I’ve had to make the decision to bow out of performing on Power Trip in October.

‘My original plan was to return to the stage in the summer of 2024, and when the offer to do this show came in, I optimistically moved forward.

‘Unfortunately, my body is telling me that I’m just not ready yet and I am much too proud to have the first show that I do in nearly five years be half-assed.

‘The band that will be replacing me on Power Trip will be announced shortly. They are personal friends of mine and I can promise that you will not be disappointed.

‘Above all, I want to thank my fans, my band, and my crew for their unconditional loyalty and continual support.’

He signed off: ‘I love you all and I will see you soon. God Bless, Ozzy.’

Ozzy had a fall at home in 2019 which aggravated injuries from a near-fatal quad bike crash in 2003.

He had previously stopped his No More Tours 2 from going ahead later this year in Europe and the UK.

The tour has been rescheduled several times over the last four years due on separate occasions to illness, the Covid pandemic and logistical issues.
