Police divers have launched a search for the body of off the port of Barcelona, months after he was first reported missing.

In March, reports emerged that police were investigating shortly after his disappearance, and in April the family announced police believed the X Factor and sports star had drowned.
Police have now been seen diving in the waters in the port of Barcelona, as well as the Llobregat Delta near the Catalan capital.
A spokesman for the Mossos d’Esquadra regional police force said: ‘A search is taking place for the man last seen on October 29 in Barcelona port and the Llobregat Delta.
‘It’s being conducted by the Mossos’ Maritime Police and the Aquatic Unit. It’s an underwater search with the Maritime Police in the boats and the divers involved belonging to the Aquatic Unit.’
They said they were investigating ‘the possibility this person could have fallen into the water, from information received following his disappearance, around the time he was last seen.’
It comes after ‘an initial exhaustive search’ which unfortunately ‘found no sign’ of David.
‘The objective is to find any evidence that might support the theory of a possible accidental death by drowning,’ they said, adding the Llobregat area has water movementleading investigators to believe ‘there could be something in that area.’
‘The searches began this morning about 10am. We cannot say at this stage how long they will continue. They’re underwater searches involving divers.’
The police force added in a tweet confirming the search for Levi, who vanished after arriving in Barcelona solo after first visiting friends in Ibiza: ‘We continue investigating the disappearance of a man on October 29.
‘We have mobilised the Maritime Police and the Aquatic Unit to search the port of Barcelona and the Llobregat Delta. The case continues to be investigated.’
A local investigating judge is understood to have authorised the searches after receiving a report from coastguards.
Reports Davis may have drowned emerged some weeks ago, with his family later sharing a statement which included new information from police,
revealing his phone was last registered with a phone tower at the far end of the port closest to the sea entrance.
‘Reports of a man in the water by staff on a cruise ship entering the port at 6.30am on 30th Oct have been investigated,’ his family said.
‘Four staff confirmed seeing a man in the water with specific details including him asking for help in English and the colour of his clothing.
‘A life jacket was thrown from the ship and emergency sea and air rescue services searched the area but they were unable to find him.’
His passport was later found on a beach close to the port where the man was seen in the sea.
Mum Julie has said that while the evidence ‘isn’t good,’ she is not giving up hope, as ‘without a body there’s just no way of knowing what’s happened.’
She had criticised the ‘slow’ reaction of the police, having only learned months later that there was a theory her son had been seen in the water and may have drowned.
Davis first played for Bath Rugby before signing with Worthing Raiders, and rose to prominence in the entertainment industry when he appeared in X Factor: Celebrity in 2019.
He formed the group Try Star along with fellow rugby stars Thom Evans and Ben Foden and went on to appear on E4’s Celebs Go Dating.
