has spoken for the first time about the , stating that it was the ‘most painful thing’ he has experienced.
The singer’s nephew, Dennis Yadiel Sánchez Martin, had alleged that the two had a seven-month-long relationship, before seeking a protective order against the star.
Ricky, 52, always denied the claims, and the protective order was dismissed after Dennis, now 23, withdrew his request during a court hearing in 2022.
Speaking about the allegations for the first time, Martin expressed how the ordeal affected him.
‘It’s the worst. The most painful thing I’ve ever experienced,” the Living La Vida Loca singer told. ‘Thank God it was baseless.’
At the court hearing, the judge said: ‘This was never anything more than a troubled individual making false allegations with absolutely nothing to substantiate them.’
Dennis is the son of Ricky’s half-sister, Vanessa Martin.
In September 2022, Ricky , accusing him of extortion, malicious persecution, abuse of law and damages stemming from false allegations of sexual abuse.
The singer was later seen in a video from the remote court hearing explaining
‘I’m in front of the cameras today because I really need to talk in order for me to start the healing process. For two weeks I was not allowed to defend myself because I was following a procedure where the law obligated me not to talk until I was in front of a judge,’ he said at the time.
‘Thank God these claims were proven to be false but I’m going to tell you the truth. It has been so painful. It has been devastating for me, my family, my friends. I don’t wish this upon anybody.’
Addressing his accuser, he added in the clip : ‘To the person that was claiming this nonsense, I wish him the best and I wish he finds the help so he can start a new life filled with love and truth and joy and that he doesn’t hurt anyone else.’
It comes after the star announced he and his ex-husband Jwan Yosef had been planning their eventual split for years before it was officially announced.
In July 2023, after six years of marriage – and now, Ricky has admitted that they planned their split for some time.
‘When the public found out, we had already gone through a grieving process,’ Ricky told Telemundo, adding, ‘Jwan and I will always be a family.’
‘We have two children that we are going to raise together, and this is not a recent decision.
‘We have been planning this situation for a long time, it’s pre-pandemic.’
He continued: ‘We look into each other’s eyes and smile, we hug each other, and we go through the ups and downs, we cry together, and we laugh together.’
