It is understood the crash took place on Saturday, July 15 in the afternoon, when Ciaran was on his way to watch his son, Ruairí Keating, play for Cork City FC against Sligo Rovers FC.
According to , Ciaran, who was in his 50s, was named locally as a man who had died in a crash that occurred on the N5 near Swinford, Co Mayo, and involved two vehicles.
The publication reported that Ciaran was travelling with his wife Ann Marie, who suffered injuries, but they were not life-threatening and she was treated at Mayo University Hospital.

He then went on to reminisce about the times Ciaran would join the band on tour and how he supported the band.
