Sarah Silverman devastated after her beloved ‘best pal’ dad dies days after his wife of 40 years

announced the sad news on Thursday (May 11), confirming that her ‘best pal’ died last night.

Sarah shared a series of personal photos with her dad, Donald Silverman, confirming that his partner, Janice, also died last week.

She was close to stepmother Janice, who was married to her dad for 40 years.

Mourning her loss, wrote to her two million followers: ‘My best pal, Schleppy – my dad, died last night.’

She often referred to her dad as ‘Schleppy,’ in her writing and comedy.

‘All the sisters, and grandkids surrounded him with love and singing and very dark f***ed up jokes this final week,’ she continued.

‘But ultimately, he wanted to be with his love, Janice, who we lost last Monday.’

She added that people could donate to Second Nurture in his honour, a charity whose mission is to ‘radically increase the number of families who choose to foster and adopt waiting children and teens, and do so successfully.’

Sarah concluded: ‘He always said he was the richest man in the world because of his family, and he was.’

Her heartfelt post was met with an outpouring of love, with Kristen Bell writing that she had ‘donated in his honour.’

‘I’m so sorry for your loss. Love to you and your family ❤️❤️❤️’, commented Alison Brie.

Former Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon commented: ‘So sorry for your loss ??’

Chelsea Handler wrote: ‘You had the best dad. Funny, smart, kind and a human good doer. I will miss you, popsicle.’

‘My condolences love bug ?’, added Sharon Stone.

Cynthia Nixton added sweetly: ‘I’m so so sorry Sarah!!! He must have been so over the moon proud of you—you really seem like kindred souls. ❤️’

Sarah as spoken in the past about how her dad influenced her comedy.

Writing in her 2010 memoir The Bedwetter, she said that inherited much of her dad’s sense of humour and he taught her to swear at a young age.

‘It was like he was teaching a “cursing as a second language” course for one,’ she wrote.

Speaking of his daughter in 2013, Donald himself told the Guardian: ‘She was just so cute as a baby, so I taught her the worst words.

‘One day when Sarah was about four, my mother came over with some brownies and Sarah shouted at her, “Shove ’em up your a**, Nana!” It was terrific.’
