viewers have been left enamoured with the new after their energetic introduction.
Tonight, the first episode of the 20th season of the long-running variety show hit screens, with the long-time hosts back on board.
During one segment, they also revealed the two young boys who would be they ‘couldn’t be bothered’ to do, like interviewing A-list celebrities.
The roles were , who famously caused chaos on the beloved programme.
Now a new generation has been bought on board, with an six-year-old and five-year-old being given the task.
As the hosts explained it was time to bring their mini-me’s back, however their previous helpers were a little too big now.
‘So, we have scoured the North-East to find the perfect pair of new mini us’,’ Dec explained.
The two boys then made their way on stage, and things got pretty wild from there.
Not missing their chance in the spotlight, Little Ant kicked things off by telling his mentor that he had a ‘big forehead’.
‘It’s so big that I think it’s the size of a truck!’ he added.
After being handed their official badges, the boys were then asked about whether they thought they were ready for the job.
However, clearly distracted by seeing themselves on screen, the big Ant and Dec had to regain their attention quickly.
The young pair were then asked to promise to ‘do their best to do everything Ant and Dec can’t be bothered to and promise to be very cheeky and very naughty’.
‘Yes, we are going to speak to every celebrity we meet,’ Little Dec added.
Given the first mission, the boys were told they were set to meet Olivia Colman and Jessie Buckley, who are starring in the movie Wicked Little Letters together.
But not missing their chance to make sure they were going to be remunerated for the work, the boys made sure to ask how much they would be paid.
Although Little Ant appeared to not quite being able to strike himself a good deal after willing to settle for £20, his new partner-in-crime said he’d like to be paid £1 million for his upcoming work.
It soon came time for them to make their way off stage, but not before running up to the cameras and making faces.
Many watching on at home made it clear they loved the personalities of the new little stars.
‘Little Ant and Dec are absolute chaos,’ Jen Ryan posted on X.
‘Laughing so hard at the new Little Ant and Dec and their antics on the screen! Little chaos machines!’ Robert Cathles shared.
‘Little Ant & Dec – bet their parents are having a well-deserved rest. Adorable but livewires,’ Denise Stammers added.
This season of Saturday Night Takeaway will feature seven episodes however it will be the last for a while after that.
Last year the two hosts shared they would be taking a ‘breather’ 20 years after the show first began.
‘The show takes up such a lot of our year we just feel we need a little bit of a breather and that the show is going to take a little bit of a rest,’ they said in a video update shared with fans last year,’ they said.
‘We love making Saturday Night Takeaway but reaching the milestone of 20 series seemed like the perfect time to pause for a little while and catch our breath.’
Saturday Night Takeaway airs Saturdays at 7pm on ITV1 and is streaming on ITVX.
