Kristin shot to , alongside Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall and Cynthia Nixon.
She has rarely been out of the spotlight since, appearing in two spin-off movies and the 2021 revival – which is returning soon for a third series.
This has led to intense scrutiny from fans, and criticism from some over her change in appearance over the years.
Speaking to the Telegraph in a hugely candid chat, Kristin explained that she has been left in tears by some of the comments, due to her use of fillers.
‘It’s hard to be confronted with your younger self at all times,’ she said last June. ‘It’s a challenge to remember that you don’t have to look like that. The internet wants you to — but they also don’t want you to. They’re very conflicted.
‘I have done fillers and it’s been good, and I’ve done fillers and it’s been bad. I’ve had to get them dissolved and I’ve been ridiculed relentlessly. And I have shed tears about it. It’s very stressful.’
Referring to the work she had done on her lips, she admitted: ‘No one told me it didn’t look good for the longest time. But luckily I do have good friends who did say eventually. The thing is you don’t smile at yourself in the mirror. Who smiles at themselves in the mirror? Crazy people.
‘It’s whatever. I can’t keep it up. I don’t have time. You’re trusting doctors [but] people personally blame us when it goes wrong – [as if] I jabbed a needle in my face.’
In a subsequent chat with Entertainment Tonight, Kristin touched on the huge reaction her comments were met with, noting the ‘shame’ some women in the industry feel surrounding their use of fillers and Botox.
‘I think part of the reason that people are not more open is because there is such shaming put on you largely by other women,’ she added.
‘It’s so sad. We have enough problems as it is. We don’t need to shame each other. It’s so much a waste of time, but it does hurt.
‘We’re doing the best we can do. Everybody is doing the best they can do, and everyone can make their own choices, right.
‘But you don’t criticize everybody else for their choices, or their mistakes or whatever it is. That’s not helping you. It’s not helping them. It’s not helping anybody. It’s just getting clicks or whatever.’
