Sex Education’s James Purefoy has ‘no idea’ if he’s back for season 4 after cluster of stars exit

Filming for season 4 has finally begun – but some familiar faces won’t be returning.

Tanya Reynolds, who played fan favourite character Lily, and Rakhee Thakrar, the actor behind teacher Emily Sands, have said they will not be starring in the upcoming series.

Despite landing a new role as the iconic Doctor in long-running sci-fi hit , Eric Effiong actor will return to the show.

James Purefoy, who did not appear in the third series, has discussed whether or not his character, Remi Millburn, will make a return for the fourth series.

James revealed that he has ‘no idea’ whether Remi will make a return, but the 58-year-old actor also assured he is open to appearing in the show again.

‘I think it’s a really brilliant piece of work. If they wanted me back, I’d be there in a heartbeat,’ he told Digital Spy.

‘One of the things that [creator] Laurie [Nunn] does among lots of brilliant things that she does is the way she [deals with] characters who seem to be incredibly odious in one way or difficult.’

The end of series three ended with a mystery around the father of Jean’s baby, revealing that their father could be Remi and not Jakob.

The fourth series of the show was confirmed in September 2021, but no release date has been given.

The award-winning British comedy series follows the lives of the students, staff and parents of the fictional Moordale Secondary School.
