The teaser trailer for new thriller has landed – but fans are already concerned will cancel it after one season.
The streamer has gained a, including and Joe Cornish’s , and viewers are hoping Bodies isn’t the next on the chopping block.
The streamer is currently gearing up for the October release of the eight-parter and has shared a minute-long trailer and a first look at the cast in what promises to be a spooky series.
The trailer introduces four different detectives, played by Jacob Fortune-Lloyd, Shira Haas, Amaka Okafor and Kyle Soller, who are investigating a mysterious murder across four time periods, 1890, 1941, 2023 and 2053.
But the catch is they’re looking into the circumstances around the death of the same male corpse, who, in every period, appears out of nowhere n**ed.n**ed and in the middle of an alleyway.
‘You’re not the first detective to discover this body,’ an ominous voiceover warns.
He continues: ‘I’m going to tell you everything. It’s going to blow your mind.’
The trailer tantalized YouTube fans to such an extent that one has already begged Netflix: ‘Now Netflix, don’t you dare cancel this one!’
‘It’s probably going to get cancelled after one season knowing Netflix,’ another lamented.
Many others were also left intrigued by the plot – and wanting more.
One remarked: ‘Awesome trailer. We have an idea about the plot, but the details are still a mystery.’
‘A murder mystery across four separate timelines? Sounds intriguing,’ a second commented.
The synopsis from Netflix reads: ‘Based on the mind-bending graphic novel by Si Spencer, Bodies is a police procedural with a twist.
‘When a body – the same body – is found on Longharvest Lane in London’s East End in 1890, 1941, 2023 and 2053, one detective from each period must investigate.
‘As connections are drawn across the decades, the detectives soon discover their investigations are linked, and an enigmatic political leader – Elias Mannix (Stephen Graham) – becomes increasingly central.
‘Did he have a part to play in the murder? Or is something far more sinister at play? To solve the mystery, our four detectives must somehow collaborate and uncover a conspiracy spanning over 150 years.’
Consider us intrigued.
Bodies launches on Netflix on October 19.
