The Traitors US star Reza Farahan snuck around castle to leave notes for cast in unaired scenes: ‘I was having fun with it’

After the huge success of the Traitors in the UK, the US series is almost upon us, and promises to be more savage than the original.

– and some pesky Traitors – have made the Scottish castle their home and are set to side eye everyone in the hopes of winning a $250,000 prize.

Unlike the UK program, the Peacock version has included some of the biggest reality stars around, including ’s Kate Chastain, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills icon Brandi Glanville and Survivor stars Cirie Fields and Stephenie LaGrossa.

Although the competition gets tense very quickly as Faithfuls desperately try to weed out those Traitors, Reza Farahan told Metro.co.uk that he tried to inject some fun behind the scenes.

In his own special way, of course.

Discussing the drama beside castmate Kate, he spilled the beans on playing pranks on his co-stars, telling us: ‘I did try to sneak out of my room to leave notes… I was trying to have fun in the moments where you weren’t supposed to have fun.

‘I would leave notes under people’s castle doors that said, “I know what you did last summer, signed The Traitors.”

‘I was having fun with it.’

The contestants spend the day together taking on tasks and return to the castle for free time before the dreaded round tables, where they are forced to vote off their castmates.

They are then allowed to mingle until an ominous gong signals that it is time for bed, and are unable to leave their rooms after this point until breakfast the following morning.

Discussing the security measures, the pair explained that things are tightly locked down, which makes the game a lot harder.

‘We tried to [sneak around] but they really kept an eye on us,’ Kate continued. ‘We are very close to each other but we cannot leave our rooms.

‘The security was tight. You’re really only just left with your thoughts – and that really plays a huge part in the game, and your psychological warfare.

‘When you have no distractions and you’re just lying in the castle bed at night, all you can think about is the game and you become obsessed.

‘I think it’s by design that we’re cut off from each other and it worked.’

‘How many push-ups can you do in your room by yourself,’ Reza said, to which Kate jokingly interrupted: ‘Zero!’

‘How many games of solitaire…? Then you’re just thinking about the game, the competitions.

‘Those gold bars are really shiny and heavy, you want them. I’m speaking for everyone but I wanted them.’

Thankfully, we don’t have to wait long until we find out who gets their hands of the prize pot, as the series begins on January 12.

The official synopsis reads: ‘Hosted by Alan Cumming, this unscripted competition series is a nail-biting psychological adventure in which treachery and deceit are the name of the game.

‘Twenty contestants (including reality A-listers) come together to complete a series of challenges with the objective of earning a cash prize.

‘The catch? Three of the contestants coined “the traitors” will devise a plan to steal the prize from the other contestants coined “the faithful.”’

Bring it on.

The Traitors US premieres on Peacock on January 12.
