fans have slammed a the contribution of guest hosts who have filled in over recent weeks.
Over the past few months, the line-up of the breakfast programme has seen presenters including , Dermot O’Leary, and Josie Gibson step up after the exit of long-time host Phillip Schofield, who resigned in May after about an ‘unwise but not illegal’ affair with a young colleague.
This week Holly Willoughby , with ITV sharing the news on social media to mark her return after nearly two months.
‘They’re back. ? Holly, Alison and Dermot will be gracing your screens weekdays at 10am on ITV1, ITVX & STV,’ the broadcaster posted on Instagram.
However, the post sparked frustration for many viewers, who accused ITV of snubbing , Craig and Andi Peters and Rochelle Humes, who presented the programme over the past two weeks.
None of those four presenters appeared in the post, with just photos of Holly, Alison and her Friday co-host Dermot, being used.
It was quickly met with complaints for the lack of recognition for the other This Morning presenters, with one person writing: ‘Where’s Josie and Craig?’
‘So they’ve just thrown Josie and Craig away like they didn’t carry the show for weeks,’ someone else wrote.
Another added: ‘I will miss Josie. She’s so bright and bubbly. A ray of sunshine in the morning.’
Meanwhile another viewer called for past presenters to be brought back: ‘Bring back Eamonn and Ruth.’
Many others also threw their support behind Andi and Rochelle, with one writing they were ‘so funny together’.
Someone else said the recent summer line-up showed a ‘refreshing shake up that this program needed. It’s time for a new era’.
‘Andi Peters was brilliant as was Josie and Rochelle and not to mention Steve Jones! This Morning was fun to watch [after] it had gone so stale.’
This week it looked clear that the former close friendship between Holly and Schofield had gone stale .
However, he does still follow former colleagues including Alison and Dermot, as well as the account for This Morning itself.
Holly, on the other hand, does still follow her former colleague on Instagram, as well as his daughters.
In a statement to Metro.co.uk an ITV spokesperson did not address the comments from viewers, but did say that Holly would be hosting alongside Craig on Wednesday and Thursday, with Alison and Dermot back as usual on Friday.
They added Holly would continue to co-present alongside members of the This Morning family.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
