This Morning viewers were tickled after Vernon Kay was roped in to help a caller who was seeking advice about their partner sexting another woman.
Vernon joined Josie Gibson for Monday’s episode of the ITV programme and the pair offered their tips during the phone-in, which was led by Rosie Green.
Gayle rang the show explaining that she’s been with her husband for 18 years, but recently found out last that he had been messaging an ex.
‘Nothing happened,’ she told the hosts. ‘He’s very much blasé “oh it was just friends getting to know each other” and I – reading the texts, it was a lot more than that.
‘I just don’t know how to get over it.’
‘And this is someone who he was seeing, an ex-partner?’ Vernon asked, with Josie adding: ‘And you were going through chemotherapy at the time?’
Gayle replied yes to both questions, later saying that she doesn’t think her husband slept with the woman in question.
Viewers at home wasted no time in making light of Vernon being involved in the phone-in given that he was famously hit by claims in 2010 that he had exchanged flirty messages with former glamour model Rhian Sugden despite being married to Strictly Come Dancing co-host Tess Daly.
‘Not sure Vernon’s the right person to be heading-up a segment about people sending flirty text messages,’ one wrote on Twitter.
‘Vernon keeping very quiet during phone call from woman who’s man has been texting another woman! AWKWARD!,’ another penned.
Vernon famously apologised to Tess on his Radio 1 show following the allegations of his messages.
‘Tess is extremely upset about this and we’re working through it,’ he said at the time. ‘But in some ways I’m glad this story has come out. It feels like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders.
‘I knew it was getting silly. I’m never going to do it again and hopefully I can clear the slate clean and start again.
‘I’m so sorry. I’ve been an idiot and I’ve let my family down.’

She wrote: ‘I’m sorry for the hurt and issues that were caused back in 2010.
‘I deeply regret creating a friendship with Vernon and allowing him to continue speaking to me the way he did.’
Rhian insisted that the relationship between her and Vernon was ‘nothing more than a close friendship and flirty messages’ and said she would never have taken the situation further, adding: ‘It should never have got to the stage it did.
‘It was disrespectful, hurtful and I can only apologise for my actions.’
