wants to do a and carry on making films until he’s 80 years old.
The 61-year-old actor’s latest action blockbuster,, is set to hit the big screen this month, and apparently he’s got no plans on slowing down any time soon.
The star celebrated his birthday on Monday, and opened up about not having any plans to retire.
Why? Because Harrison is , and Tom reckons he’s a legend for it.
He told the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper: ‘Harrison Ford is a legend. I hope to be still going at that age, I’ve got 20 years to catch up with him.
‘I hope to keep making Mission Impossible’ films until I’m his age.’
This comes as Harrison took up the role of daredevil archeologist Indiana Jones for the fifth – and last – time, in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
He starred in the film, who seemed buzzing to be part of Harrison’s farewell to a role he’d played for over 40 years.
Last month, Tom paid tribute to ‘legend’ Harrison before the film hit the big screens.
He wrote on Instagram: ‘This summer is full of amazing movies to see in theaters. These are just a few that we can’t wait to see on the big screen.
‘Congratulations, Harrison Ford, on 40 years of Indiana Jones and creating one of the most iconic characters in cinema history. You have given us countless hours of joy.’
Meanwhile, Tom has played Ethan Hunt for all six Mission: Impossible films, and continues to do his own stunts.
Tom served as co-producer on the new film alongside JJ Adams and writer-director Christopher McQuarrie, and recently praised the team for being the first film up and running after the Covid pandemic hit.
In September 2020, the team got filming again after it was abruptly halted due to the pandemic, and Tom for continuing through such a hard time.
‘Listen, we had to do it and I’m very proud of my crew,’ he shared, speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk at the in London’s Leicester Square.
‘We presented it to them last night, them and their families, and it was lovely because I got an opportunity to really thank them all personally.’
He added: ‘It’s something that we can all be proud of, what we accomplished to keep people working and keep people going during that very challenging time. And I say, “Look at what we have, look at what we all did together”.’
The action star also said it was ‘very important’ to him that the new Mission: Impossible film do well with its audience.
‘You know, I always make my movies for an audience, and you always want them to work – but even more so now.’
