Starring a stellar cast featuring , , , Ben Mendelsohn and Kingsley Ben-Adir, the show imagines a time where an species called Skrulls have infiltrated the Earth’s population, and has already been .
The catch – Skrulls have the ability to shapeshift so that they can take on the appearance of anyone, and so any human could be one of them.
While some of the Skrulls are allies of Nick Fury (Samuel) and his human comrades, others have more extremist views, and aren’t happy that the former Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. has failed in his promise to find them their own planet that they can call home.
Here’s what you need to know about how to watch the show.
What time does Secret Invasion come out?
Typically when TV shows are released on Disney Plus, ranging from action-packed stories from Marvel to Star Wars, they tend to come out at the same time.
Therefore, it’s expected that the first episode of Secret Invasion will come out on Wednesday June 21 at 8am BST in the UK.
It will simultaneously drop on the Disney Plus streaming platform in the US at midnight PT (Pacific Time) and 3am ET (Eastern Time).
So, if you won’t be able to watch first thing in the morning, then it’d be best to steer clear of social media, lest you accidentally stumble upon crucial spoilers!
The subsequent episodes of Secret Invasion will come out at the same time, every Wednesday at 8am BST.
How many episodes are there?
Secret Invasion has been described as a ‘mini series’, and so doesn’t boast as many episodes as other seasons of TV progammes might.
The show will consist of six episodes, airing from Wednesday June 21 through to Wednesday July 26 on a weekly basis.
All six episodes are being directed by Ali Selim, whose previous work includes Sweet Land, The Looming Tower and the short Emperor of the Air.
The creator of the series, Kyle Bradstreet, was the head writer behind the scenes, having formerly worked on shows including Borgia and Mr Robot.
Secret Invasion follows on from the 2019 film Captain Marvel, when the Skrulls were first introduced to the MCU.
Starring Brie Larson in the lead role as Carol Danvers, the film was set in the 1990s and saw the hero at the centre of the story fighting the Skrulls as her foes.
However, it was later revealed that the Skrulls weren’t actually the enemy, and were actually the ones being hunted and made to flee as refugees by the Kree, a warrior race of humanoids who had taken Carol in as their own.
Secret Invasion premieres on Wednesday June 21 on Disney Plus, with new episodes released on Wednesdays.
