AEW have revealed Chris Jericho was taken to hospital after suffering a shock loss to Powerhouse Hobbs.

The legend, who when the rival promotion launched in 2019, appeared on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite as the two companies found themselves in a rare ratings battle.

A change in broadcast day meant AEW’s flagship show went head to head with , although the sports entertainment giant put on a stacked show with The Undertaker, and more showing up.

Jericho was in action on Dynamite as he took on rising star Powerhouse Hobbs, but things didn’t quite go to plan for the former world champion.

He got utterly decimated in a very one-sided match as Hobbs stormed to victory in an incredibly dominating performance.

Later in the show, commentator Excalibur told viewers that Jericho had been rushed to hospital due to ‘internal injuries’ suffered in the bout.

Fortunately for fans of the veteran wrestler, the injuries appear to be a storyline way of writing him off television so he can take time off to tour with his band Fozzy.

Jericho has taken occasional breaks throughout his career to hit the road with the Judas rockers, and this looks to be a similar situation while also making Hobbs appear even more dominant.

His big win was one of several huge surprises on Dynamite this week, as Orange Cassidy – who was replacing the injured Jon Moxley – regained the International Title from Rey Fenix.

Meanwhile, Hikaru Shida became a when she dethroned Saraya less than seven weeks after the British star won the gold from her in a Fatal Four Way at Wembley Stadium for All In London.

For WWE NXT, this week’s show saw Asuka beat rising star Roxanne Perez and Carmelo Hayes triumph over Bron Breakker, while the team of Ridge Holland, Tyler Bate and Butch defeated Gallus in a Pub Rules match.
