From championship defences via a civil war and more, the landscape of the company could change very quickly by tonight.
Before the show, Metro.co.uk spoke to broadcaster Ariel Helwani, known for his WWE work on the channel as well as his career as an combat sports journalist, for his thoughts on a special night.
One of the biggest questions going into the match is whether Logan Paul or LA Knight will win the men’s Money In The Bank match, with the latter having the overwhelming support of the fans.
‘Personally, I feel like they’re gonna go with Logan,’ Ariel admitted. There’s a crazy thing that’s just happened with LA Knight, and it’s a great story.
‘He’s 40 and he’s been in the business for 20 years, and all of a sudden in the last 3 months he’s just exploded. But historically, when stuff like this happens, they don’t usually pull the trigger.’
The presenter pointed to Sami Zayn and Cody Rhodes as examples of just that, suggesting that WWE might instead try to capitalise on Logan by bringing in his business partner KSI .
‘Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if KSI gets involved. I have no inside knowledge, but he got involved at WrestleMania,’ he pointed out. ‘Why wouldn’t you get KSI this time around, right?’
For the women’s Money In The Bank, Ariel is split between Becky Lynch and Iyo Sky, with both stars offering up very intriguing stories going into the summer.
‘I can see them going in either direction. Iyo Sky’s match at Backlash was amazing. I didn’t think there would be any competition for crowd of the year to Montreal, and then that crowd came along,’ he said.
‘She’s been doing great, and I think Becky versus Rhea would be a lot of fun as well. They can go in a bunch of directions.’
The other major match dominating conversation heading into tonight’s show is the Bloodline Civil War pitting The Usos against their brother Solo Sikoa and cousin Roman Reigns.
Ariel thinks this could be a rare moment wear the Tribal Chief is on the losing side, because the tag match gives him a way to avoid being pinned.
‘Roman doesn’t lose but here he’s in a tag match, so he can not get pinned, right? The brothers pinning their brother, to me, makes a lot of sense,’ he said.
It could also set up Jey Uso as the one to eventually dethrone Roman and become Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, and back to its roots.
‘That would tie the whole thing back to three years ago, which would be really interesting. I guess my pick now is Jey,’ he added, while pointing out there isn’t as much urgency for a title change as there once was.
‘Now they’ve introduced the other title for Seth, I don’t feel like there’s as much of a need or a want to get the title off of Roman.
‘I wouldn’t be surprised if he still has the title for WrestleMania 40, and who knows who shows up for that one!’
