has given an injury update on Randy Orton.
The Viper – who recently – has been taken off TV and his current health status remains unclear, but the company has offered some kind of clarity.
In a statement on social media, they said: ‘Randy Orton is currently undergoing consultations with neurosurgeons and orthopedic spine surgeons to determine the extent of his injury and to recommend course of treatment.’
It’s not currently clear whether or not this is simply a storyline injury or if the legendary star is legitimately battling with some injury issues.
Earlier this year, the admitted he had started to ‘feel’ the effects of his signature RKO finishing move, which his RK-Bro tag partner Riddle has started to adopt.
‘I kind of wish I could go back in time and create a finishing move that didn’t entail me jumping up as high as I can and landing on my back,’ he told back in January.
‘After doing that a couple of thousand times over the last few decades, I’m starting to feel it.’
WWE’s latest update comes after and hinted Randy Orton would be taking some time away from the ring.
Addressing the crowd in an emotional and fiery promo, Riddle said: ‘The last couple of years have been hard for Randy.
‘The last couple of months, even though Randy and myself, RK-Bro, we’ve been having the time of our lives, Randy’s been having a real hard time, and his back’s been giving him a really hard time lately.
‘Last Friday, before the unification title match, Randy could barely walk. I knew we had the match, I knew Randy wouldn’t let me down because he knew how much it meant to me. And he knew how much it meant to you!’
WWE Raw (Mondays) and SmackDown (Fridays) air at 1am on BT Sport 1.
