Popular Twitch streamer could be facing a Kick ban for watching Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight while streaming live.
Rising streaming platform Kick has evolved from an underdog to a full-fledged rival of , thanks to the recent announcement of a and the signing of .
xQc has faced only a handful of bans during his Twitch career, leaving fans wondering whether it was due to his impeccable behaviour or his status as the platform’s golden boy that Kick wanted him.
However, now that he has officially started streaming on Kick, his journey has hit a bumpy road, as a movie night with his viewers lands him in hot water.Â
xQc was over an hour into watching The Dark Knight when a Kick staffer pinned an urgent message to his chat.
As soon as the streamer noticed, he paused the film and read the message which explained that his stream was violating the site’s DMCA policy – a broadcasting regulation that prevents people from using copyrighted material.Â
The message read: ‘Hello there, we would like to notify you that streaming the specific content is in violation of our DMCA policy. Therefore, we kindly ask you to stop your live stream and be aware that we will need to remove the current VOD containing this content.’
xQc then quickly changed his background to a serene beach photo, casually acknowledging the message with a simple ‘makes sense.’
Although it seems like the streamer got away with it and won’t be dealing with any major consequences, there’s still a chance that copyright holders could submit a claim at a later time.
This means xQc could still face a ban for streaming The Dark Knight, but given Kick’s laid-back stance regarding the content broadcast on its platform, it’s likely that nothing will come of it in the end.Â
