‘A couple of weeks’ – Mikel Arteta provides update on Thomas Partey with Arsenal midfielder ruled out of Manchester United clash

has suffered a groin injury which will rule him out for ‘a couple of weeks’ ahead of ’s clash with Manchester United.

The 30-year-old has started all three of ’s games this season, deployed in a new right-back role.

But the former star was left out of the Gunners squad taking on ’s side at the Emirates on Sunday afternoon.

Partey misses out due to a ‘groin injury’ with the midfielder is set to undergo further tests to determine the severity of the issue.

Mikel Arteta initially expects his midfielder to be unavailable for ‘a couple of weeks’s after picking the knock in training.

Arteta said ahead of kick-off: ‘We have to do a few more tests.

‘But he felt something in training and it looks like he’s going to be out for a couple of weeks.’

On Saturday, the Ghanian Football Association revealed Partey had not been selected for upcoming international games,

A statement read: ‘Arsenal ace Thomas Partey is left out of the squad due to injury.

‘According to his club, the player picked up an injury in training and could be on the sidelines for a while, however the Black Stars medical teams is monitoring the situation.’

Partey’s absence has prompted a reshuffle at the back with Gabriel Magalhaes returning for his first start of the season.

He partners William Saliba with Ben White shifted out to right-back.
